Over deze opleiding
The course aims to develop an interdisciplinary perspective on resilience and adaptive governance in the light of social-ecological crises and environmental change.
Building resilience and promoting adaptive governance are key issues in the international discourse on how to respond to an increasing frequency and magnitude of environmental change and extreme events. The concept of resilience which emerged in the field of ecology recognizes that crises and disasters can not always be avoided (Holling 1973; Folke 2006), but that societies and social-ecological systems need to learn from crises and build resilience. How resilience building can be advanced and how strategies for adaptive governance can be developed are core questions of the course.
