The Applied Geophysics track trains students in all geophysical and related aspects of environmental and engineering investigations and in the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbon and geotherma
Applied Geophysics is part of a joint programme run by TU Delft, ETH Zurich and RWTH Aachen. Applied Geophysics adds an international perspective to your career prospects.
Time lapse or 4D seismic imaging, linking 4D geophysical parameters to dynamic reservoir parameters;
2D and 3D high-resolution seismic and GPR methods as well as electric resistivity and magnetic methods;
Imaging and characterisation in complex media, incorporating small-scale effects in imaging, multi-scale analysis, imaging techniques for multi-valued arrivals;
Development of geothermal applications for energy supply.
The Applied Geophysics track comprises various core modules, specialised courses and a research thesis. During the core modules students acquire the fundamental knowledge that is essential for practising applied geophysics. Basic processes and state-of-the-art technologies are taught. Students must be able to think independently and integrate concepts and information.
A key part of the curriculum consists of a period of field work during which the students design and execute a programme of geophysical investigation aimed at resolving actual engineering, environmental or archaeological problems
