Over deze opleiding
In the one-year Master's programme Landscape and Heritage you will study the dynamic past of both contemporary and historical landscapes, and explore the ways in which they are preserved.
The programme focuses on the significance of historical landscapes and materials in both later periods and the modern world and how they are maintained as archaeological heritage. Natural landscape features, archaeological sites and objects from the past play an active role in the creation of social and collective memories. The programme draws close links between teaching and ongoing research, of which the application of GIS-based modelling is but one example. It has also forged strong ties with a number of archaeological institutions, such as the Allard Pierson.
The Master's programme in Landscape and Heritage is one of three Archaeology programmes offered by the Amsterdam Centre for Ancient Studies and Archaeology (ACASA), a joint venture of the University of Amsterdam and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam; the other programmes are Archaeology of Northwestern Europe and Mediterranean Archaeology. ACASA enables you to benefit from the expertise of two universities, and allows you to choose from a wide range of courses, interest fields, and specialisations.
