In the Communication Science Bachelor's programme, you will study the content, use and effects of media and communication.
Communication is more than having a conversation. When you are reading the newspaper, watching a documentary or texting your friend, you are communicating. Communication is becoming increasingly more important. The role of communication and media (newspapers, radio, television and the internet) in society forms the central theme within the Communication Science Bachelor's programme.
In the Bachelor's programme media such as newspapers, radio and television are covered. The information in companies and governmental bodies is discussed, and attention is paid to information- and communication technology (ICT) as well as the relation between the internet, e-mail, other technologies and the ways in which people communicate.
Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam has a special focus on public and business communication. Within the Bachelor's programme four main topics of communication science are addressed: Persuasive communication, Entertainment communication, Corporate communication and Political communication.
