The University of Amsterdam's Philosophy programme is the most inclusive of its kind in the Netherlands. It covers a wide range of topics and perspectives, and has a strong international focus.
The Master's programme Philosophy is the most inclusive of its kind in the Netherlands. It covers a wide range of topics and has a strong international focus. The programme familiarises students with one or more sub-areas of philosophy, and explores both Anglo-Saxon and European philosophy. Students acquire the skills to formulate, analyse and discuss philosophical problems, as well as to formulate and present targeted research questions within a broader research plan.
Students can choose courses in Philosophy from the wide selection of courses. Courses are grouped under the following topics:
* The Philosophical Tradition in Context
* Critical Cultural Theory: Art, Culture and Media
* Philosophy and Public Affairs
* Logic and Language: Mind, Body and Behaviour
Philosophy at the UvA is highly regarded in terms of research and teaching quality, and was voted the best in the Netherlands for the second year running in the 2012 QS World University Rankings by Subject.
Philosophy is an accredited degree programme. After successful completion of this programme, you will receive a legally accredited Master's degree in Philosophy and the title Master of Arts (MA).
